How OC Bar Central works

Each listing is assembled from a few sources, and a listing may combine more than one:

• OpenStreetMap — community-maintained map data for names, addresses, locations, and opening hours (© OpenStreetMap contributors, used under the Open Database License).
• Foursquare — where available, place data such as categories, hours, ratings, price range, and photos, refreshed automatically on a rolling schedule.
• Bar owners — owners and managers can claim their listing; once we verify the claim, the listing shows an “Owner verified” badge and we update it with their corrections.
• Readers — every listing has a “Report incorrect info” link, and anyone can suggest a bar we’re missing.

Happy hours, descriptions, and neighborhood guides are maintained by OC Bar Central. Ratings shown on a listing come from its data provider — we don’t present them as our own reviews.

Bars, pubs, taprooms, lounges, and nightclubs in Orange County that are open to the public. We leave out venues that require admission to something else first — bars inside theme parks, for example — and members-only clubs. Bars that close permanently keep their page with a clear notice, so an old link doesn’t send you somewhere that isn’t there.

The default order puts sponsored listings first, then sorts by rating weighted by how many people rated the bar — so a bar with hundreds of good ratings ranks above one with a perfect score from two people. You can re-sort any list by rating, number of ratings, or name, and filter by city, vibe, price, open now, or happy hour.

Bars can pay to be featured. A featured bar is always labelled “Sponsored”, and payment only affects its position in lists — never its details, hours, ratings, or anything we write about it.

Bars change hours, specials, and sometimes owners. If something is wrong, use the “Report incorrect info” link on the bar’s page or email hello@ocbarcentral.com. Each listing shows when it was last updated.
